Many people ask is Clickbank a scam. The short answer to this question is a definitive, \”No!\” That, however, does not address the issue of why they ask this question in the first place.

Very few people question whether or not Adwords, for example, is a scam. They do, however, have legitimate questions regarding whether it is worth using. Why does Clickbank get labeled that way? The most likely reason is because many scammers use Clickbank as a way to market their so called products. These products, when you look into them, offer no value to the people who buy them.

Among the products sold on Clickbank are hundreds of affiliate marketing scams. Basically, these are all the same. Their homepage tells you how their system will allow you to sit back and relax and make a six figure income while their software does all the work. They all work in a similar fashion: you pay them for a \”personal website\” that advertises nothing more than the affiliate link you have just purchased. It is then your job to promote \”your\” site using yet another paid service or two that they happen to be affiliated with. This is usually an article submission service.

What you end up doing is promoting their product, which is nothing but the \”product\” you have just purchased. You do all the work of linkbuilding and SEO for them, but pay them for doing so. You may end up making a little money on commissions, but they\’re getting most of it. Sadly, Clickbank gets the blame for the scam and not them.

There are many products on Clickbank that are not scams at all and that offer real value. If you have developed a product that really has value but can\’t afford to promote it, Clickbank may be a good start for you. Similarly, if you want to become affiliated with the product, it can be easily done using Click bank. Use it legitimately and it can be a good way to get your business off the ground.

Another complaint Clickbank gets is that they only pay by cheque. This is only partly true. After your credibility has been established, you can get paid by direct deposit. It would be nice if they could pay through Paypal or something similar, but that might just encourage the scammers more.

In the final analysis, it should be clear that Clickbank is not a scam, but it is used by scammers and that rubs off on Clickbank. It can be a fantastic way to break into internet marketing, too. It all depends on how you use it.
